In physical education, pupils will have the opportunity to:

  • master basic movements including running, jumping, throwing and catching, as well as developing balance, agility and co-ordination, and begin to apply these in a range of activities
  • participate in team games, developing simple tactics for attacking and defending
  • perform dances using simple movement patterns.

Pupils will be able to develop their skills as athletes by:

  • understanding the importance of a healthy lifestyle
  • taking part in a range of sports and learn how to use different equipment
  • practising skills such as throwing, catching, running
  • using their body to balance, stretch, move in different ways
  • evaluating and improving their performance
  • being physically active and increasing their stamina
  • working as part of a team.
