Learning Stories

ufs our feathered friends learning story

UFS: Our Feathered Friends

In Upper Foundation Stage, we had an amazing week observing birds! Using a bird hide and binoculars, we spotted magpies, sparrows, pigeons and even two blue tits who live in a nearby tree. We talked about sizes, colours and songs, and recorded our findings on our outdoor tally chart.
year one racquet skills learning story

Year 1 Racquet Skills

Year 1 continued to develop their hand-eye coordination and racquet control in PE this week. They progressed from keeping balloons in the air to directing them using the face of the bat with a safe grip. Great focus on control and technique, Year 1!
ufs big bird watch learning story

Our Big Bird Watch

This week, Upper Foundation Stage have been inspired by the RSPB Big Bird Watch. We used our fine motor skills to make bird feeders, and on Friday we built a bird hide to quietly observe the visiting birds. Well done UFS, you’ve shown excellent care towards nature and the world around us!
