Key Stage 1

Key Stage 1

Key Stage 1 builds on the learning that has taken place in the Early Years Foundation Stage.

In KS1 we teach the National Curriculum to provide a structured, inclusive curriculum that allows all pupils to develop a wide range of skills, knowledge and experiences to enable them all to reach their full potential, both academically and socially.

Our Learning to Learn culture encourages pupils to take responsibility for their learning. We plan using a topic based approach which focuses on developing the core skills of reading, writing and mathematics across the curriculum. Our topics are based around a ‘big question’ which is explored and developed further throughout the half term. Please click on the attachment below to look at our long term planning for Key Stage 1.
